Spinning Treasure Chest
An Animated Blender Scene
I made this scene for a client who wanted to render a spinning treasure chest, with both the chest and coins emblazoned with a logo.
Using Blender, it was a good opportunity to create various custom models (a treasure chest, coins, chest plating, etc) and then apply textures on top.
As it went along, we also developed the idea of creating two separate editions — “Gold” and “Platinum” — reusing a lot of the same assets but styling them in unique ways.
Additional Details
In order to handle rendering so many coins inside of the chest, I was able to use Blender's Geometry Nodes.
Mainly, this involved creating procedural stacks from a base coin object, and then adding some clever rotation and offsetting to each coin in the stack to create the appearance of coins being pushed up against each other.
